The pandemic has had a devastating effect on the treatment of cancer patients. Physicians estimate that many patients did not receive proper care during the lockdowns which might have affected the outcomes of several people. Furthermore, there have been issues with the manufacture of treatments due to lockdowns and problems with supply chains.
On the bright side, the pandemic showed the enormous potential of a novel class of drugs (mRNA like Pfizer or Moderna’s vaccines) that could be used for the treatment and/or prevention of cancer.
