Question: Would the plant survive longer with this new DNA?

This depends on what the DNA instructions tell the plant to do. While it’s unlikely the instructions will simply make the plant live longer. Some genetically modified crops can repel or suppress pathogens and parasites better than unmodified crops and in that sense survive for longer than other crop plants.
